Warming Trend Continues Into Mid-Late Week

TUESDAY: After a seasonable start, we’ll rocket, amid sunshine, back toward the upper 60s and lower 70s by the afternoon hours of your Tuesday. We’ll stay quiet overnight with mainly clear skies – lows falling back toward the lower and middle 40s.


WEDNESDAY: High pressure will continue to hang around the Gulf States through mid-week. After a cool start, we’ll rebound nicely into the lower 70s amid mainly sunny skies. Our quiet pattern remain in place overnight – though, with light southerly breeze, temperatures will be buoyed a bit – to the upper 40s and lower 50s.  

 
EXTENDED FORECAST: Our late autumn warm-up continues through late week with sunshine beaming down on the region, we’ll warm up into the middle 70s Thursday and Friday. A chance for a few showers will return by late Friday as our pattern becomes a bit more muddled by the weekend. A weak low to our west and a quick west-east flow overhead will bring clouds and occasional shower chances back into the region by the weekend. While it won’t be a washout, we’ll have to dodge raindrops from time to time. Highs will fall back from the 70s Saturday, to the 60s by Sunday and Monday. 

TALKIN' TROPICS: While the tropics have been quiet as of late, it was still quite the active season in the Atlantic basin with 21 named storms, 7 becoming hurricanes and 4 becoming major category 3 or greater in strength - including Hurricane Ida with its 150 mph wind when it slammed into southeast Louisiana in late August.

Seasonable Monday; Warming Trend Ahead

MONDAY: With high pressure over the area – expect a quiet day ahead to head back to work and school across central and southwest Mississippi. A few patchy fog zones could be a part of the morning commute – otherwise, sunshine will warm us from the chilly 30s to the lower and middle 60s by afternoon. With clear skies and calm winds, we’ll fall back into the upper 30s and lower 40s by daybreak Tuesday.

Sun to Clouds to Rain Saturday; Warming Trend Next Week

SATURDAY: After a cold and frosty start with some sunshine, clouds will gradually increase through the day with temperatures rebounding to the upper 50s and lower 60s ahead of our next weather maker. Rain chances will increase after sunset – generally light – with lows only dropping into the 40s by early Sunday.




SUNDAY: The Gulf low that kicks off the rain Saturday night will continue to spill clouds and showers over the area for the start of Sunday. As another front approaches from the north, it’ll help clear the rain and clouds through the afternoon hours. Expect morning 40s to only manage the 50s to lower 60s by late afternoon. We’ll fall back – under mainly clear skies, into the lower to middle 30s.

EXTENDED FORECAST: High pressure settles over the area again into the start of the new work week. We’ll trend dry once again next week, warming through the 60s to the lower 70s by mid-late next week. Rain chances remain negligible until the end of next week and into the weekend.

Brisk Breezes Friday; Rain Returns Late Saturday, Early Sunday

BLACK FRIDAY: Chilly air will rush into the region to round out the week – while rain will be gone Friday, clouds will gradually clear through the day with highs only topping out in the middle 50s for most spots; a widespread frost/freeze expected – with some cooler areas possible dipping to the upper 20s by early Saturday morning. 


WEEKEND PLANNER: The start of the weekend will feature some sunshine – clouds will quickly overtake the area through Saturday – only yielding highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. A weak low will move into the Gulf of Mexico, slinging moisture back toward the area – kicking up shower chances late Saturday into early Sunday. Behind it, we’ll dry out quickly with highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s again Sunday with sunshine breaking out through the afternoon hours.  

 
EXTENDED FORECAST: High pressure settles over the area again into the start of the new work week. We’ll trend dry once again next week, warming through the 60s to the lower 70s by mid-late next week. Rain chances remain negligible until the end of next week and into the weekend.

Soggy, At Times, Thanksgiving Thursday; Chilly, Brisk Black Friday

THANKSGIVING THURSDAY: Rain chances return for Thanksgiving – thankfully, severe weather isn’t part of the story. Expect highs in the 60s north; 70s south. Rainfall amounts will generally be near ¼"by the end of the day. Rain coverage will pick up through late morning and continue into Thursday night before drying out for Black Friday. Lows will fall back to the 30s.  


BLACK FRIDAY: Chilly air will rush into the region to round out the week – while rain will be gone Friday, clouds will gradually clear through the day with highs only topping out in the middle 50s for most spots; a widespread frost/freeze expected – with some cooler areas possible dipping to the upper 20s by early Saturday morning. 

 
EXTENDED FORECAST: A mix of clouds and sun keep temperatures slightly cooler than average into the weekend – in the lower to middle 60s. A few showers could be a part of the story, mainly near and south of I-20 late Saturday into early Sunday. We’ll trend dry once again next week, warming through the 60s to near 70 by mid-late next week. Rain chances remain negligible until next weekend.

Quiet Wednesday; Soggy For Parts of Thanksgiving Thursday

WEDNESDAY: High pressure will continue to hang around the region through mid-week as people head out on the roads for Thanksgiving traveling. Locally, we’ll keep mostly sunny skies through the day with highs rebounding from chilly morning 30s to the upper 60s and lower 70s. Clouds will gradually increase overnight with lows near 50 by early Thursday. 


 
THURSDAY: Rain chances return for Thanksgiving – thankfully, severe weather isn’t part of the story, though a few storms with gusty winds and small hail could mingle with the front sweeping through the region. Expect highs in the 60s north; 70s south. Rainfall amounts will generally be near ¼"by the end of the day. Rain coverage will pick up through late morning and continue into Thursday night before drying out for Black Friday. Lows will fall back to the 30s.

Brisk Showers Along Cold Front Thursday

THURSDAY: With our front on final approach, expect a general scattering of showers and a few storms through the start of the day. Expect temperatures to hit their maximum before noon – as the front sweeps south – brisk northerly breezes will push the temperatures down into the 50s by the afternoon hours as the rain clears out. Skies will gradually clear out Thursday evening and night as we fall well into the 30s by early Friday.  


FRIDAY: Sunshine will win out the day – but it’ll be another chilled brand of sunshine to round out the work week. Expect chilly 30s early on to give way to the upper 50s and lower 60s by the afternoon hours. We’ll see another clear and cold night ahead with lows in the 30s by early Saturday.  

 
EXTENDED FORECAST: With transient high pressure moving past the area, expect another rebound in temperatures to ‘near-normal’ ahead of another rain maker due in late Sunday into Monday. Temperatures will ease back into the chilly 50s and 60s Monday and Tuesday before another quick ramp-up into the middle to upper 60s leading into an unsettled pattern that will bring rain and storms through parts of Thanksgiving holiday.

Warm Breezes Wednesday; Brisk Showers Thursday

WEDNESDAY: Our transition day – featuring a balmy breeze from the southwest, moisture filtering into the area and more clouds manifesting with the moisture. Expect highs in the middle to upper 70s again amid a mix of clouds and sun. Rain chances will tend to hold off until after sunset as our next front approaches from the west.

Seasonably Warm Early Week; Rain Returns Thursday

MONDAY: High pressure remains a major player in the forecast to kick off the new work and school week across central and southwest Mississippi. Expect sunshine to push temperatures from the humble beginning in the 30s and 40s to afternoon highs in the 70s. We’ll stay clear tonight – but as winds turn more southerly, temperatures will run warmer, generally, in the 50s.  


 
TUESDAY: A milder start to the day will get a warm end to the afternoon. With a full complement of sunshine, highs will rocket toward the middle to upper 70s through the afternoon hours. Lows will be in the middle to upper 50s by the start of Wednesday.  
 
EXTENDED FORECAST: High pressure will continue slip farther away through Wednesday – opening the door to a new front approaching from the west. Expect winds to pick up a bit ahead of the system as clouds will also begin to filter in. Highs Wednesday will still top out in the middle to upper 70s; rain chances pick up late Wednesday night into Thursday. Similar to recent fronts, while rain is possible, coverage and amounts will generally be limited. Behind the front, we’ll trend cooler – briefly with highs in the lower to middle 60s; lows in the 30s late week. Another rebound in temperatures to ‘near-normal’ ahead of another rain maker due in late Sunday into Monday.

Seasonable Sunshine Friday; Deceptively Chilly Sunshine Saturday

FRIDAY: In the wake of the first front, expect sunshine mixing with zones of patchy fog to kick off your day with temperatures in the 40s; we’ll rebound to the upper 60s and lower 70s by the afternoon hours. Our next front will slip through during the evening and overnight period kicking up a bank of clouds as it sweeps through. Lows will fall back into the lower 40s on the heels of a brisk NW breeze. 


WEEKEND PLANNER: High pressure asserts itself over central and southwest Mississippi heading into the weekend – yielding bright sunshine and chilly air in the wake of Friday’s front. Expect highs in the 50s Saturday after starting off near 40. A widespread frost will be possible early Sunday as lows drop into the lower to middle 30s under clear skies. We’ll rebound into the 60s as weak front pushes past the area to the north.  


EXTENDED FORECAST: We’ll remain quiet through much of next week as high pressure holds over the area. Expect sunny to mostly sunny skies Monday and Tuesday with highs gradually warming back from the 60s Monday to the 70s Tuesday. Clouds will increase Wednesday ahead of rain chances returning Thursday into Friday. Expect highs to come back down from their perch in the 70s Wednesday to the 60s by late week.
