TUESDAY: The stalled front will begin to head back northward as warm front through the day – still yielding an opportunity for scattered showers and storms during the afternoon and evening. A few storms could be strong as the warm front makes its way across the region. Temperatures will continue to creep back up into the upper 70s to lower 80s. The warm front will continue to lift over the area through the overnight period ahead, setting the stage for the potential for severe weather Wednesday.
ALERT DAY WEDNESDAY: A potent storm system makes its way into central and southwest Mississippi – all modes of severe weather, featuring strong winds, hail and a few tornadoes will be possible. A strong southerly flow will bolster warmth (in the lower 80s) and unstable air across the region through the day. Severe weather potential will increase after lunch time, continuing through the early overnight period as the front sweeps eastward. Take the time to review your severe weather action plans in the event warnings are issued for your area. Storm risk exits after midnight, trending quieter and cooler into Thursday morning.
EXTENDED FORECAST: In the wake of our severe weather maker – we'll trend quieter and cooler through the latter part of the week. Expect a mix of clouds and sun Thursday amid a breezy north flow. Highs will top out in the lower to middle 60s; in the upper 50s to lower 60s by Friday amid mostly cloudy skies. We’ll start to rebound temperatures through to near 70 by the end of the upcoming weekend. Chances for rain looks to return through next week.
