Subtropical Storm Alberto is centered southwest of Cuba this morning. Alberto will enter the Southern Gulf of Mexico later today and continue to strengthen, but will likely remain below hurricane strength. It will make landfall most likely Monday night or Tuesday morning somewhere between Pensacola and Biloxi as a strong tropical storm. The primary issue will be heavy rain and flooding along the Gulf Coast where 4-7 inches is possible.
For Central and SW Mississippi, the impacts will be minimal; however we will deal with periods of rain and scattered storms through Memorial Day and into next week, which is similar to the pattern we've had over the past week. If the track shifts farther west, our rain chances would increase. As always, we'll keep you posted! Make sure you have our First Alert Weather App for the latest weather info locally and in the tropics.
