FRIDAY: The summer regime will continue to finish out this work and school week – expect a mix of clouds and sun with scattered to, at times, numerous storms developing through the afternoon hours. Highs will top out in the upper 80s to near 90°. Showers and storms may have a bit of staying power into Friday night – lingering past midnight as lows drop into the upper 60s to lower 70s.
SATURDAY: As we move into the holiday weekend, expect Saturday to be more typical of the day as of late; a mix of clouds and sun with scattered showers and storms developing. Highs will still manage the upper 80s through the afternoon hours. Saturday likely will not be a washout but have indoor alternatives in case you get caught under a storm or two.
WATCHING THE TROPICS: A disturbance is expected to move into the Gulf of Mexico, spreading rounds of showers and storms across the Gulf states. There is still some uncertainty on the system’s intensity – but at any rate, name or no name, tropical moisture will flow northward bringing an uptick in shower and storm chances locally. Rainfall could be heavy at times, leading to localized flooding concerns region wide. This will likely be the biggest and most widespread impact. If you have beach plans this weekend, be ready for periods of storms, high surf and increase threat of rip currents. Expect temperatures amid variably cloudy skies to run in the 80s. Depending on the track of the system, the impacts will change. As of now, expect periods of heavy rain with localized flooding concerns into mid-next week, with the heaviest activity to come in on Tuesday – amid breezy E/NE winds.
INTO NEXT WEEK: Our weekend tropical disturbance's may linger around the area for several days, keep the weather unsettled to start the next work week. Expect variably cloudy skies with periods of showers and storms possible. Highs will be generally in the 80s; lows near 70; the pattern will break by Thursday – bringing back more sunshine, lower rain chances and higher heat.
