Subtropical Storm Alberto is heading north through the Gulf of Mexico, producing heavy rain over Florida. Sustained wind is only 40 mph this morning, but the system will strengthen a bit before making landfall Memorial Day, most likely between Pensacola and Panama City as a tropical storm. This eastward shift in the forecast track means impacts from Alberto will be minimal in Mississippi. Certainly some heavy downpours and strong rip currents along the coast, but the flooding rain potential will be farther east along the Florida Panhandle and inland into Alabama.
For Central and South Mississippi, expect hit and miss showers and storms for Memorial Day, which is essentially the same type of weather we've had in recent days.
