REST OF THURSDAY: Dry air and sunshine will push temperatures upward toward the 80° mark this afternoon. We'll stay quiet and dry tonight; lows will fall into the middle 50s, thanks to southerly wind – but we'll stay dry under mainly clear skies.
FRIDAY: A transitional day as a cold front will push across central Mississippi by the latter half of the day. Expect a variably cloudy sky with highs in the middle to upper 70s with chances for showers and storms to increase later in the day. Behind the front, temperatures will drop off quickly – falling to the 40s by early Saturday.
WEEKEND CHILL: Behind the front, expect temperatures through the weekend to stay on the chilly side. Expect gradually clearing skies on Saturday with afternoon temperatures only managing the middle 50s; feeling like the 40s, thanks to the persistent NW wind. Winds will subside Saturday night, but that will allow for temperatures to bottom out in the 30s – a widespread frost is possible. Sunshine will help temperatures to warm back to around 60° Sunday, still well below normal.
NEXT WEEK: High pressure will gradually modify – bringing temperatures back from the freezer through early parts of the new work week. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies Monday into Tuesday with highs back in the 70s. Rain chance will return with the approach of another rain system by Wednesday.
