We're tracking what is now Tropical Depression Harvey in the SW Gulf of Mexico.
Some strengthening is expected over the next 48 to 72 hours and Harvey will likely become a tropical storm before Friday. The exact track remains in question, but confidence is increasing that Harvey will move into either Mexico or SE Texas by Friday afternoon or Friday night.
For Mississippi, moisture will increase from the Gulf, leading to higher rain chances through the weekend. At this point, we are not expecting a washout on any given day, but expect periods of showers and storms. There is a possibility, the system could turn north once over land or even edge back into the Gulf late this weekend or early next week, which will impact the forecast in Mississippi. Something we'll watch closely and as always, will keep you posted.
