TONIGHT: Expect clouds to gradually increase after midnight ahead of our next system – tonight should remain mainly dry with a few isolated showers possible before 9 p.m. Lows tonight will fall into the middle 60s.
SATURDAY: A cold front will push across central Mississippi through the afternoon hours – bringing a chance for a few strong to severe storms. The morning hours should be mainly quiet; by noon, showers and storms will fire near the river and progress eastward. The main threats will be straight line winds and hail. Most of the storms should be exiting the region by 7 p.m. Highs will top out in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
SUNDAY: Behind the front, expect a much cooler air mass to roll in on its heels. Highs on Sunday will manage the lower and middle 60s with mostly cloudy skies. We'll mention a few sprinkles, but most will be dry. Skies will gradually clear late in the day and through the overnight hours – lows will fall into the middle 40s.
NEXT WEEK: High pressure will build back over the area through Monday – bringing bright sunshine and near-average temperatures in the upper 70s. The warmth will continue to build throughout the week – expect middle 80s by Tuesday and Wednesday. A stout upper ridge will build over the southeast bringing temperatures near 90 by Thursday and Friday.
