As promised, rain is increasing across Mississippi as moisture spreads north from the Gulf of Mexico. Periods of rain with tropical-like downpours continue through the afternoon, followed by additional showers tonight.
More rain ahead Friday; like today, expect heavy downpours throughout the day with the possibility for localized flash flooding. The coverage of rain decreases a bit over the weekend, but we're still expecting hit and miss showers and storms both days.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for South Mississippi until 7AM Saturday where 2 to 4 inches are expected, on average, with locally higher amounts possible.
