Tropical Depression 3 is strengthening and will likely become Tropical Storm Colin (the first tropical system of this season in the Gulf) within the next 24 hours. The system is located in the Southern Gulf and will make landfall as a strong depression or tropical storm Monday evening in Florida between Tallahassee and Tampa, producing heavy rain, wind, and the possibility for a few tornadoes.
For Mississippi, no direct impacts; the associated moisture will combine with a cold front to bring scattered showers and storms to the southern half of the state (generally along and south of I-20) during the day Monday.
Behind the front, dry air arrives, leading to seasonably warm and clear days through the end of this week with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.
Be sure to join us this evening and tonight on WLBT for the latest updates!
