Temperatures this morning are holding steady in the upper 60s courtesy of the clouds. As for the rain, showers and thunderstorms are soaking south Mississippi along Highway 84. As an area of low pressure scoots along the gulf coast, this will keep showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through the morning and afternoon in south Mississippi. The severe weather threat is very low but still worth being weather alert throughout the day. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will spread across central Mississippi by later morning to early afternoon. We'll get a brief break from the rain before a front passes through later in the evening.
Quiet weather returns for the start of next week with but a stronger storm system arrives Wednesday and Thursday, bringing a higher possibility of severe weather.
Expect highs in the 70s next week and overnight lows in the 50s and 60s. Normal high this time of year is 71 and the normal low is 47.
