Julia Weiden's Friday Forecast
Winter weather may cause slick travel in areas north and northwest of the Jackson Metro this morning!
AM Commute: A changeover from rain to snow is occurring, mainly well north and northwest of Jackson. Temperatures are a few degrees above freezing in most of central Mississippi, which will prevent flakes from sticking to the ground. Areas north and northwest of Jackson (Yazoo City, Belzoni, Kosciusko, Carthage, etc.) may have a light dusting by the morning's end. Travel will be tougher in these areas.
Afternoon: It's going to be a cold and blustery day. Temperatures only fall today, meaning we spend the majority of the afternoon in the low and mid 30s. On top of that, winds will be gusty out of the west/northwest up to 25 mph, meaning it will feel like 20s. Warren County and the Delta will have even higher gusts up to 40 mph.
Tonight: Winds ease off a bit and skies are mostly cloudy. The temperature comes down to the mid 20s.
Weekend: Saturday will be a cold and gray day with highs in the low 40s. Expect a frigid Sunday morning in the mid 20s. Skies clear out on Sunday and the temperature comes up to the mid 50s.
