A beautiful weekend ahead!
After dealing with cold weather over the past several weekends, we're in for a big treat as unseasonably warm, spring-like air arrives. Highs reach the low and middle 70s both Saturday and Sunday which is a good 15 to 20 degrees above average. We remain dry, although clouds increase during the day Sunday in advance of a storm system that will bring the potential for strong to severe storms on Tuesday.
At this point, the primary time frame for storms in Central & South Mississippi is from early Tuesday morning through mid afternoon. Storms will be capable of producing damaging straight line wind, large hail, and even tornadoes. Please stay with us over the coming days for additional updates. Also, this is a good time to review your tornado safety plan, have a NOAA Weather Radio programmed and ready to go; and download our First Alert Weather App. In the mean time, enjoy this fantastic weekend!
