THIS EVENING: As of 6PM, a flash flood warning continues until 7:15pm for Forrest, Lamar, Covington, Jones, Marion, & Jefferson Davis Counties; and a severe thunderstorm warning for Jones & Jasper Counties until 6:30pm. Additional scattered strong storms are in progress across the Southern half of Mississippi, but are currently under severe limits.
RECORD HEAT: Temperatures soared into the upper 70s and low 80 this afternoon, breaking a record in Jackson where the high reached 83. The previous record was 80 degrees set in 1955.
CHRISTMAS: Due to unstable conditions, storms continue at times into Christmas Day. The severe weather parameters aren't overly impressive, but still sufficient to support strong to severe storms capable of producing damaging straight line wind, large hail, heavy rain, and even a few tornadoes.
We'll keep you posted, and will break in for any tornado warnings that are issued. In the mean time have a Merry Christmas!
