***VERY IMPORTANT*** IF YOU HAVE PLANS THIS WEEKEND THAT DO NOT INCLUDE OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, THOSE PLANS NEED TO CHANGE IMMEDIATELY
Summer doesn't officially end until September 23, but it sure will feel like it this weekend! As promised, a cold front is moving into Mississippi this afternoon; as of 3:45 the front is nosing into the Delta. In advance of the front, a broken line of storms is developing..
The storms will move southeast throughout the afternoon and evening as the front progresses across the state. These storms will impact some high school football games with a round of heavy rain, gusty wind, and lightning. Since we are dealing with a broken line, it will not rain everywhere, but be prepared to go indoors if storms do move into you location. Timing wise, the storms should reach the Natchez Trace Parkway (north of I-20) between 5pm & 7pm, the I-20 corridor between 6pm & 8pm, then will weaken over South Mississippi.
The front clears the state late tonight and early Saturday morning, followed by a shot of very pleasant fall-like air! Sunshine returns tomorrow, but as cool air blows in from the north, afternoon highs hold in the upper 70s to low 80s; with a refreshing north breeze and low humidity it will feel absolutely perfect. By Sunday morning, lows plummet into the lower 50s with the possibility for upper 40s over the northern half of Mississippi! During the day Sunday, still gorgeous with highs in the 78 to 82 degree range under a full supply of sunshine- What a treat after a long, steamy summer!
We aren't done with the heat just yet; temperatures warm up again next week so enjoy this pleasant weekend while it lasts!
