A beautiful, almost fall like afternoon! Temperatures are running in the mid and upper 80s, and combined with a refreshing breeze, low humidity, and full supply of sunshine, it feels very pleasant. By tonight, you might just feel a nip in the air, especially tomorrow morning as lows fall into the upper 50s.
Unfortunately, we do warm up again by the weekend; afternoon temperatures return to the 90s with increasing humidity.
In the tropics, we now have Tropical Storm Erika out in the Atlantic, but unlike Danny, conditions are a bit more favorable for strengthening over the coming days. The latest data suggests it will turn north, steering away from the Gulf of Mexico, potentially impacting the East Coast late this weekend or early next week as it strengthens to a strong tropical storm or even a hurricane.
Still time for things to change, this certainly bears watching. Bottom line, the Gulf of Mexico is not completely out of the woods, but the most likely scenario is for the system to impact the East Coast. As always, we'll keep you posted.
