Some rain and strong storms this weekend, but the news isn't all bad... First, it will not rain/storm the entire weekend. We stay dry during the day tomorrow; sure, a brief passing shower or a few sprinkles are possible in isolated spots but most of us will remain dry and very mild all day; afternoon temperatures reach the middle to upper 70s- Not bad at all considering the unseasonably cold weather we had earlier this week!
Rain and storms arrive late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Concerning the potential for severe weather, there's no real change in our thinking since yesterday's post (please take a look below if you'd like a more detailed explanation as to why the severe threat is limited). While this is a very dynamic system, the lack of sufficient instability is a significant limiting factor that should keep most storms in check and below severe limits. But with a very strong lower level jet, damaging straight line wind could reach the surface within a few of the stronger storms.
In terms of timing, the main window for heaviest rain and strong storms will be early Sunday morning:
Rain ends from west to east Sunday morning, followed by a warm and dry afternoon.
As always, we'll keep you updated throughout the weekend... Also, join us this evening on WLBT and Fox 40 for a full weather update!
Have a great night!
