A nice warm-up today, but colder air arrives for Thanksgiving... After a very cold morning, temperatures reached the middle 60s this afternoon thanks to lots of sunshine and a mild southwest breeze. But a cold front is approaching from the northwest and will arrive tonight, delivering a shot of cold air for Thanksgiving Day. Temperatures drop into the middle 30s by sunrise, which is warmer than last night, but as the colder air continues to blow in, we struggle to reach the low 50s tomorrow afternoon; and with an icy north wind it will feel even colder. Otherwise, a full supply of sunshine and dry.
A major storm system is causing a travel nightmare along the East Coast, especially in the Northeastern states where heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain is occurring. Fortunately, conditions will begin improving late tonight and tomorrow morning as the system moves out.
For the rest of the week, another freeze expected for Thursday night/Friday morning when lows fall into the upper 20s and low 30s. More changes ahead this weekend; a warming trend begins Friday with highs near 60, upper 60s Saturday, then soaring into the 70s by Sunday!
No real chance for rain through the weekend; a few showers are possible early next week, but nothing widespread or heavy.
